AAEMI is proud to be part of producing the first ten internationally certified group of pipeline welders in conjunction with Kenya Pipeline Company under the Morendat Institute of Oil and Gas, a first for the region. This was largely accomplished by the welders being sponsored by Kenya Petroleum Training Assistance Program through the World Bank grant offered to the Ministry of Petroleum and Mining, trained by skilled trainers from the Australia Energy and Mineral Institute.
This is the first of many milestones that AAEMI looks achieve in the Kenya by doing what we do best, offering the best training professionals and the quality information on how to maximize the resources within the region by having our very own trained experts conducting these activities and slowly doing away with hiring external/foreign welders which tends to be an expensive endeavor. Previously, pipeline welding in Kenya has been hampered by lack of locally qualified trainers and assessment institutions thus making it a rather expensive endeavor for many Kenyans.
Our training exercises are very hands on, intensive and ensure that one graduates with the required skill. We offer a balanced curriculum with enough practicals as well as academic material to offer an added advantage to the practical aspect of the training. Our training environment also encourages critical thinking where one is able to handle tasks with minimal supervision. The certifications acquired are internationally recognized, therefore one can pursue a pipeline welding career abroad as well.
In conclusion, the Morendat Institute of Oil and Gas celebrates this milestone as looks to bridge the skill gap in the oil and gas sector by establishing a well-equipped school of welding and having more pipeline welding candidates graduate as well as graduates who can serve as both trainers and assessors in Kenya.
